The desert, Me and work spaces.

Wow its been a crazy couple of weeks. So far i've been doing lots of moving from one place to another. This place is crazy hot sometimes. The sun is so bright here and the sand gets into your eyes a lot. The showers are cold and most of the drinking water is hot, but other than that I guess it’s not so bad. We have to drink out of water bottles here because the tap water is filthy, which is weird because we wash our hands with that water. The dust is everywhere. We’ll sweep the floor and an hour later it will have a thin layer of dust on it. There is no escape from dirt and dust here. My hands feel dirty all the time, which sucks. We wash our hands before chow and 5 minutes later when your about to eat you can feel the dust on your hands already. This place is nothing like what I pictured in any movie or photograph. Also, the flight line is right behind where I sleep so jets are taking off and landing all the time. We have harriers here too, and they make a huge noise when they land. It seriously sounds like a rocket is about to crash into you. The ground actually shakes when a jet takes off and lands, we are that close. But don’t get me wrong, nothing out here is so unbearable that I just couldn’t handle it. It’s just like living out in a desert. Anybody could live out here but you need to make some serious adjustments.

Well I have to go to work. I love you all and will talk to you soon!
Love

Hi Ian!
The living conditions sound awful! Poor Ian. Know this: I'm proud of you, seriously. You are proving that you can be strong and deal with anything they throw at you. You'll come away from this experience, a better person. Trial by fire!
Keep us updated okay, I love hearing from you.
~Sadie
What a great place this is for us to come find you. We are all so proud of you (and all the rest of the guys over there with you) and just want you to know we don't go a day without thinking of you and praying for you. I love your dry sense of humor. You spent your whole life quiet which makes finding this is such a gift.
I love & miss you,
Viki

Hi Ian,
What a good description of your life. Especially the dry, dusty hands, that was vivid. You should keep lotion handy to cut into that icky feeling. Do you need some? We'll send it if you do. We know a family that makes it :)
Church is good, but not the same without our elbow, or toenail, or eyelid, what ever part of the Body you are, Ian. Let's say you're the dusty hand.
I miss you, hermano, and love you, too.

I think the time has come for you to put up a profile picture. It still says that you don't have a digi cam yet, which you do and your anamae guy is getting a little old. Hope you're doing well. Loves!
Thank for the pictures and the descriptive monolog. If you can, take some more time to write...we all love the way you express your thoughts and ... we love the way your mind thinks. It is interesting and funny. Post more pictures...and remember that we love you and pray for you daily.
love, sue
If it's any consolation, you do get used to the dust eventually - it takes a couple of months though. The same with the flies if you get them. The heat will probably take longer to acclimatise to - although you'll probably feel freezing when you get home;-)
Found you through Sadie-Lou. It's interesting to hear first hand what going on there. keep it up:-)
